Prof. Abdelghany received her PhD in Linguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research has been discovering psycholinguistic patterns in Arabic sentence processing with special focus on ambiguity in Arabic sentence production and perception. Her research has investigated the syntax-prosody interface with a fine-grained interest in the role of prosody in silent reading. She has been an Associate Arabic Linguist and Program Manager at Google, analyzing data and writing grammars and annotation guidelines for AI generative conversation models and assistant technologies. She is a co-author of a book entitled Deep Semantics which is a handbook on the deep semantic and cognitive structure of Arabic phonetic system. She is also received professional training from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education Program where she was awarded a certificate for women leaders and professionals in the Middle East. She was also a Consultant & Committee Member of the Fulbright Commission’s Integrated Language Program in Egypt. She has been teaching Arabic Language at Queens College since 2010.
